We like to keep you informed every step of the way!

At Rise Tax Pro, we are committed to providing a seamless, transparent, and stress-free tax filing experience. Now that your tax return has been successfully filed, we want to ensure you have all the information you need about your refund, tax payments, and next steps.

Please review the details below carefully, as they outline how to track your refund, make payments if you owe taxes, and when to contact us for assistance.

Understanding the Tax Filing Process

Once your return has been submitted to the IRS and/or state tax agency, it enters the processing phase, where tax authorities review the information provided. The amount of time it takes to process your return depends on several factors, including whether you are expecting a refund or have a balance due.

If there are no additional verification requirements, the IRS will either issue your refund or process your tax payment according to the timeline below.

When Will You Receive Your Refund?

Refund processing times vary depending on the filing method and the IRS’s workload. Below are the estimated timeframes:

  • E-Filed Returns with Direct Deposit – Typically processed within 10-21 days

  • Paper-Filed Returns with Mailed Refunds – Processing can take 6-8 weeks

  • State Refunds – Vary by state, generally taking 2-6 weeks

  • Returns Requiring Additional Review – If your return is selected for review or contains errors, processing may take longer.

If your refund is delayed beyond the expected timeframe, continue monitoring its status online before reaching out for assistance.

How to Track Your Refund

The IRS and state tax agencies provide online tools to help you track the status of your refund. These tools are updated daily and offer the most accurate and up-to-date information available.

To check the status of your refund, you will need:

  • Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)

  • Your filing status (Single, Married Filing Jointly, etc.)

  • Your exact refund amount, which can be found on your tax return

If your refund has not arrived within the expected timeframe, please use the refund tracking tools at the bottom of this page before contacting us for assistance.

Where to Find Your Refund Amount

Your refund amount is listed on your Form 1040 under:

What to Do If You Owe Taxes

If your tax return indicates that you owe taxes, you are responsible for making the payment by the tax deadline to avoid penalties and interest. Your tax documents include IRS payment vouchers, which provide details on how and where to send your payment.

How to Pay Your Taxes

  • Follow Your IRS Payment Plan (If Set Up)

    • If you requested a payment plan when we filed your taxes, please follow the agreed-upon payment schedule. The IRS will send you a confirmation letter with instructions on making your payments.

    • You can also manage your payment plan online:

  • Make a One-Time Payment Online

    • The fastest and easiest way to pay your taxes is through the IRS Direct Pay portal:
Make a Payment to the IRS

  • Mail a Check or Money Order

    • If mailing a payment, use the IRS vouchers provided with your tax return and follow these steps:

      • Make your check or money order payable to “United States Treasury”

      • Include your Social Security Number (SSN) or Employer Identification Number (EIN)

      • Mail the payment to the IRS address listed on the voucher

  • State Tax Payments

    • If you owe state taxes, follow the instructions in your tax documents or visit your state’s tax website to submit your payment.

If you need assistance with your IRS or state tax payment, please review the payment options above before reaching out.

When to Contact Us About Your Refund

We understand that waiting for a tax refund can be frustrating, but we kindly ask that you allow sufficient time for the IRS and state agencies to process your return before reaching out.

Please do not contact us prematurely regarding your refund status. The IRS and state agencies control the timing of refunds, and we do not have the ability to expedite the process once your return has been filed.

Contact us ONLY IF:

  • It has been at least 60 days since your tax return was filed, and your refund has not been received.

  • You have checked the IRS "Where’s My Refund" tool, and it indicates an issue requiring further action.

  • You have received a notice from the IRS or state tax agency regarding your refund and need assistance interpreting the letter.
